Hollow's Eve - Part 2

The is the end of Hollow's Eve where all of the goblins and witches have gone away back to their humble abodes. The streets are dark the pumpkins are extinguished but the spirits remain...until next year. Happy Hollow's Eve.

Hollow's Eve - Part 1

Some people celebrate Halloween, I celebrate Hollows Eve. Halloween is too commercial and becomes an advertisement for bad taste in costume and horror movies. Hollows Eve on the other hand tackles the sense of darkness and spook. A small difference for some a big one for me. Vintage prints go up framed in black , mice appear on my doorsteps as do bats and crows. Black. white decorations are all over the house and Luna pumpkins are in the garden to reflect the color of the moon. Sorry to disappoint you but there is no Adams Family music or screams coming of my front door, no blood spilling, no body parts scattered about. No Hollows Eve still has a sense of style. Call me old fashioned.

The beauty of wheat

Fall is harvest time when you gather the last gathering takes place. Wheat becomes abundant and you have the chance to bring some home and display it on doors and tables. The golden hues is warm against the cold settling outside and has this amazing smell.

Smittened with Darryl Carter - Part 1

OK so I will admit I am smitten by Darryl Carter. Some of the things he designs I like, others I love like the SHAW light (DC-9532) available at Urban Electric, http://www.urbanelectricco.com/, some I would not put in my house, but rather it is the way he pairs everything up. It looks like it has always been together but and manages to stay light and airy.
The last article published in the November issue of Elle Decor exemplifies his genius...

This is the 1st part out of 2. He is well worth blogging about for more than one day.

The Sweedish Side of Things

I am in Northern Germany right on the Baltik Sea. Across from us are Denmark and Sweeden. As a result the Nordic and Scandianvian influence is huge. The theme is monochromatic, simple and streamlined. It is quite charming.

Country goes modern

I have to say that true country is too country for me. True modern is too modern for me...but the mix of both definitely works for me.

Welcome to our new table

Well after waiting for over 4 months our new dining room has arrived. A simple trestle table from Restoration Hardware. Natural in color, wood and shape I am in love with its simplicity. I can already imagine the dinners, filled with friends, food and laughter, I feel lucky to be able to have such a beautiful piece of furniture in this house, our labor of love.

Now comes the question of seating...what to do next? Options anyone? let me know what you think!>
